The Warning Signs Your Commercial Cooler Is Failing

Posted on

If you have an older commercial cooler in your business, you know that it may occasionally be finicky. Perhaps you think it might be time to change your current refrigerator for a new one. If this is the case, you might be waiting for your cooler to go on the fritz. These are some signs that your commercial cooler is on its way out.

Your Doors Are Worn Out

When the doors to your cooler are worn out, you might not be getting the seal you need to keep the items inside cool. As a result, the merchandise you try to sell might no longer be good by the time your customers purchase it. When the seal is poor, you also lose money on keeping the items cool because air simply escapes.

Your Floors Are Wet

Is your refrigerator or cooler leaking? Not only does the water on the floor present a slipping hazard, but it also signifies something is not working right inside. Plus, water that drips out onto the floor can develop mold or mildew, which can actually make you and your customers sick. This could be another matter of a seal not working right, or you could have a deeper problem with your refrigeration system.

Your Cooler Smells Bad

One of the most unappetizing things that can happen is that a customer opens a cooler and is hit with a whiff of something that just does not smell good. A bad smell could be caused by a leak in your line or by something rotting in the back of the cooler. The rotting could be the result of your temperature not staying consistent throughout the day, which is a serious issue. Regardless, you certainly do not want your customers to smell something bad when they are looking for a snack or a drink.

Your Cooler Makes Strange Sounds

Do you occasionally hear knocking, groaning, or squealing coming out of your cooler? If so, you might have a serious issue on your hands. For example, these sounds sometimes indicate that your motor is about to die. If the motor dies, nothing will stay cool, and you will need to find a way to keep your cool items cool elsewhere—and soon.

It may be time to replace your current cooler with something more functional and efficient—like a three-door commercial cooler, for instance. Fortunately, you have several options that are sure to keep your merchandise cool and ready for use.
